Sigma FC players continue to tear up their respective conferences. Incredibly, Sigma players upstaged last week's four-player-four goal performance. This week, Sigma Alumni scored five goals, copped a Conference player of the week honour, and won one all-tournament recognition.

Lucas Ferritto, a senior at Simon Fraser, scored a goal in each of the Clan's two wins against California competition to earn GNAC Player of the Week. Ferritto is off to a torrid start, matching his whole goal-scoring total from last season after two games.

At Syracuse, Alex Halis and Chris Nanco teamed up for two goals each in a 4-1 win over Manhattan College. The performance earned raves for Halis, who is already the team's leading scorer on the season. In addition to scoring twice, Halis assisted one of Nanco's goals giving him his first collegiate assist.

At Lynchburg, Va., Orestis Ilias intercepted a back pass from a John Carroll Univ. defender to score easily, giving Roanoke an equalizing goal against the Ohio school in the Lynchberg Invitational. The goal came 10 seconds after the visitors had taken a one-goal lead. It was Ilias' first collegiate goal. Roanoke won the game 3-2 in double overtime. Teammate Aidan Nagy started and played the whole match.

Lucas Guerriero was named to the All-Tournament team at the Ocean State Soccer Classic. The Bulldogs (1-3) put up a valiant fight Friday night, dropping a tough-one to nationally-ranked Brown, 1-0, in opening round action, before URI's Matt Sykes dropped a hat trick on the Black and Gold Sunday night in the 3-1 loss.

In Hamilton ON, Nathanial Morris scored 2 goals minutes apart to lead McMaster to a win over University of Brock in OUA action. Morris put McMaster up 2-1 in the 55th minute and sealed the victory minutes later with his second from close range.s



Christian Samaniego Southern Connecticut State


UConn - The No. 3-ranked Connecticut Huskies played a massive game against No. 10-ranked Washington Huskies Tuesday night and the game was a tense affair, ending 0-0 after double overtime. Earlier in the week, UConn defeated Boston U 1-0 to further solidify their place among the elite of U.S. College soccer. Sigma's Cyle Larin and Kwame Awuah continue to be staples in the Huskies starting lineup.

Evansville - Evansville Purple Aces split a pair of games at the Bearcat Invitational tournament, defeating Northern Illinois 3-2 in overtime, and dropping a 2-0 result to host Cincinnati. Mark Anthony Gonzalez started against Cincinnati and recorded one shot on net.

Penn State - The Nittany Lions dropped a pair of games over the weekend, 4-1 to Rutgers and 1-0 to St. John's. Mark Wadid started in the loss to Rutgers and had a good scoring chance go over the bar in the first half. In the loss to St. John's, Wadid came off the bench and played 71 minutes.

Boston College - The Eagles dropped a pair of weekend matches, losing 2-0 to Wake Forest and 3-2 in double overtime to Dartmouth. Giulano Frano started both contests and had four shots on goal in the loss to Dartmouth.

Dayton - The Dayton Flyers scored a pair of wins to take their Dayton Flyers Classic tournament. The Flyers registered a 2-0 win over Lipscomb and a 5-1 win over Northern Kentucky.

Buffalo - The Bulls dropped a pair of 1-0 contests to Siena and Bucknell over the weekend. Kristian Lee-Him started both games for Buffalo.

Quinnipiac - Quinnipiac needed a late goal to earn a point on the road with a 1-1 draw at Lafayette College on Saturday afternoon. It marked the second-straight draw through double overtime for the Bobcats. Once again Brandon Goode started for the Bobcats.

Southern Connecticut - The Owls fell 1-0 to Mercy in the team's first game of the season. Christian Samaniego started in the midfield.

Mercer - The Bears faced a tough opponent, No. 24-ranked UNC Willmington and fell 3-1 in the final game of the Hilton Garden Inn Classic. Earlier Mercer lost a tough 3-2 overtime decision to Elon. The Bears are 0-3 to start the season. Greg Ranjitsingh was forced to make 9 saves in the loss.

Fordham - Northeastern downed Fordham 1-0. Jon Agostino started for the Rams, who sit 2-2 on the season. Earlier in the week, Fordhan defeated Yale 2-0 in a home contest. Check out the highlights here.

Toronto - Kenneth Viegas got the start as the Varsity Blues defeated Nipissing 4-1 at Varsity Centre. Check out the highlights here. A late goal against Laurentian gave Toronto a 1-1 tie in the second game of the weekend double header.

Adelphi - No. 8-ranked LIU Post defeated Adelphi 3-2 in a close contest. LIU raced out to a 3-0 lead, but Adelphi, led by the strong play of Sigma's Jordan Hibbert, made it a game, scoring twice to close the gap.

Southern New Hampshire - SMU, ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Div. II scored a 2-1 win over Dowling. Domenic Samuel started the game and recorded one shot on net. SMU faced Dominican Wednesday night.

Tiffin (Paulo Farias) - The Dragons opened the season with two wins, 1-0 over Davis & Eakins and 3-2 over the University of Indianapolis. Tiffin ended the week ranked No. 21 in the NCAA Div. II.

Philadelphia - Jordan Lynch recorded an assist and four shots on net as the Rams scored a 3-1 win over East Stroudberg.

Lewis & Clark - Justing Stoddart and the Trailblazers scored a 6-1 win to opent the season against Danville on Sept. 5, game details were not immediately available.
