CORVALLIS, Ore. - Emery Welshman got his senior year at Oregon State off to a good start on Friday, scoring the final goal in a 4-0 win over Sacramento State. The win was the highest scoring opening game for the Beavers since 2004.

The game was close until Oregon State broke the game open with three goals in a short seven minute span early in the second half sealed the win.

"Our personnel is capable of scoring in quick succession, we have the right mentality to go forward, we have a pretty good crop on the front line, and it was nice to see them get some goals," said head coach Steve Simmons.

Oregon State plays their second game Friday, Aug. 31 against top-ranked UC-Santa Barbara. The game will take place in Spokane, Wash.

NEWTON, Mass. - A clever set up from Kyle Bekker in the first-half that failed to materialize in a goal was one of several missed opportunities for Boston College in a 1-0 loss to cross-town rivals Boston Univ. Monday.
