SIGMA FC is facing some of the NCAA's top men's soccer programs during a 10 day period that marks the annual NCAA University spring tour which sees the older academy teams visit East Lansing Michigan and Raleigh North Carolina for a series of 5 matches. In 2013 SIGMA teams headed to the northeast to visit, Northeastern University, Boston College and Holy Cross and closer to home Canisius College.

SIGMA opened the tour with a strong showing against NCAA soccer powerhouses Michigan State and Northwestern, drawing 0-0 against the Spartans of Michigan State, and then dropping a 1-0 decision to Northwestern.

"All in all it was great soccer with two top Div I opponents representing the BIG 10," said Sigma FC Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis. "Both games were up tempo, and technical with a lot of good soccer and ball movement on display. The trip to Lansing, Mich. included a tour of the Michigan State campus and facilities.

The Michigan leg of the trip was a set up for the longer 5 day trip to Raleigh, North Carolina where SIGMA FC will face N.C. State University, Duke University and University of North Carolina. "[The Michigan trip] is a great way to get introduced to our 10 days of NCAA Soccer as we travel to Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday. "This marks another step forward for SIGMA in our NCAA recognition. The invitation to play came from NC State and the others quickly jumped on board to play the game. It will be a great experience for our players to play in the hotbed of University soccer playing against such stried Universities in athletics and academics".

SIGMA will be travelling to Raleigh with their A1 (U18) and B1 (U17) teams for 5 days which will include the series of matches, training and campus tours.

N.C. State University, Duke University and the University North Carolina at Chapel Hill all compete in the nations Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), considered to be the of the toughest men' soccer conferences in the NCAA.

SIGMA FC will look to continue to add to its already committed class of 8 players to Universities on Scholarship for 2014 over the next few weeks with this series of matches being another key component of the recruitment process.

Updates on the trip will appear on SIGMA's Facebook and Twitter feeds:
