SIGMA FC is very pleased to announce another player from the senior squad has committed to play at the university level. Manvir Brar (1991) has accepted an athletic scholarship from SIMON FRASER University in Vancouver, Canada. After analyzing the various offers and options available, Manvir confirmed his intent to play for a successful program in the NAIA where he will have the opportunity to compete for a national ranking and of course a national championship on a yearly basis. As a Canadian national team pool player this will also provide Manvir the opportunity to be close to the national programs and staff out west who can follow his efforts for future consideration.

Manvir has been with SIGMA since the summer of 2007 and has been touted by his coach and SIGMA TD Bobby Smyrniotis as the regions top box-to-box midfielder. "Manvir is an excellent player and above all an excellent person to have on your team" comments Bobby. "His commitment and work ethic is second to none and only he knows where his limit will be in this sport. I am happy that he will be joining a program coached by a good friend of ours at SIGMA, Alan Koch. Coach Alan is a winner and he will push Manvir and the rest of his players to succeed and become better along the way. Manvir is definitely in good hands. I am very happy for him and look forward to his development and success at SFU and beyond".

Manvir is a crafty central midfielder who has a rare ability to control the tempo of a match. His ability to keep the ball in possession and create out of midfield are his strongest attributes. Simon Fraser University is the only Canadian university which competes in US collegiate competition (NAIA Division). The history and tradition of the program is rich with top 10 rankings and consistent participation in the national tournament.

SIGMA would like to congratulate Manvir and his family for their dedication and efforts over the years which lead to this great opportunity.

Well done Manvir! SIGMA FC is proud!
