SIGMA FC is happy to announce that Lucas Ferritto (1991) of the SIGMA FC A1 squad has accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Maine. Lucas has been with SIGMA since it's inception in 2005 and has matured into one of the top strikers in the region. At 5'6 he has never been the big and strong prototypical striker that most coaches look to first. His speed and quickness on and off the ball along with his efficient goal scoring ability is what has set Lucas apart over the years. As a frequent goal scorer Lucas has been a headache to defenders both locally and abroad. In 2007 he scored 3 goals while the SIGMA FC squad toured Holland with vital goals vs. PSV Eindhoven and in an important victory for SIGMA FC over the mighty AFC AJAX of Amsterdam.

Technical Director, Bobby Smyrniotis has been part of Lucas' development since 2005, "I remember him at our first SIGMA - AFC Ajax camp back in 2005. He was this little guy with great speed and a knack for putting the ball in the back of the goal. It was an easy decision for me to accept him to our team. Over the years he has developed into a top striker and as such received considerable attention and offers from schools looking to have him join their program. I am very happy that he has made his decision and commitment to the University of MAINE and as with all SIGMA players I look forward to their success in their next steps in the game and will be here to guide them and provide for them beyond their collegiate years."

SIGMA would like to congratulate Lucas and his family for their hard work and dedication to the game over the years!
