2008/09 will go down as a memorable year for the SIGMA organization. After four years of the ETC Program and successful international summer camps, SIGMA FC was born with teams in the U14, U15, U16 and Men's categories competing in the SAAC and Ontario Soccer League competitions. SIGMA FC now the home of year round development for its players has had a successful first year both on and off the pitch.

On the pitch all teams provided a high calibre of exciting play both in domestic competition and play abroad culminating with league titles in the SAAC competition along with the prestigious Score Showcase tournament in North Carolina.

At the top of the SIGMA organization is SIGMA FC which competes in the Ontario Soccer League (OSL). After an excellent start to the season the team lost 10 players to University commitments leading to a difficult stretch of the season. In the midst of losing the core of the team as expected and calling up a series of players from the U16 squad SIGMA FC still holds second place in it's hands and the opportunity for a playoff promotion in their final game with Real Toronto. The team also advanced with it's depleted squad to the Semi-Final of the Frank Docherty Cup only to lose in a hard fought match with a 1-0 scoreline to the Serbian White Eagles. The season was a great success in preparing those players heading off on their scholarship and University commitments along with providing those players still in the SIGMA system an ability to keep on developing at the highest level.

Following the senior team was the B1 (1992/93 born) squad which finished their inaugural season as SAAC league champions and cup finalists. This team matured to a great degree over the year transforming into a solid unit on the field capable of playing a very diverse brand of soccer. The team's success was also measured during the month of July where in two distinct events they did a great job at gaining the attention of many US University coaches. At the SIGMA International Summer Camp the team was under the close eye of three University coaches each of whom were impressed by the level of the boy's and continue to follow their progress. In late July the squad travelled to the Score Showcase in North Carolina where playing a year up in age they were able to turn the heads of many coaches!

The SIGMA C1 squad finished the season in fourth position in the SAAC competition. As a U15 team the group competed at the U17 level and had a great year from a developmental aspect which will only make them stronger for the coming year. Consistency and battling players mostly 2 years their senior were the two learning curves the team had to face over the year. The squad did an exceptional job especially with their two draws with Bryst and the SIGMA B1 squad which proved on a good day they could compete with the best. The team is full of strong potential and players with a bright future. The lessons learned from this past season will be instrumental in their growth and maturity as a team for the year to come!

In the 1995 age group the SIGMA C2 squad did a great job of playing attractive football while combining it with success. The goal of all SIGMA teams is to first play an attractive style of attacking soccer with the secondary focus on the result. In essence this team exemplified the ability to play attractive soccer while combining it with the SAAC league title at the U15 age group along with being the runner up in the cup. In July the team proved it's dominance on US soil where they competed in the Score Showcase at their own age level (U14) winning the championship with 6 wins in 6 matches.

With the 2009/10 season on the horizon SIGMA will look to continue it's success on the field with it's teams and of course individual players development at the forefront. This year was one where 6 players joined Nationally recognized programs in the NCAA and NAIA along with one player's success in European football. Congratulations to Kyle Bekker, Emery Welshman, Manvir Brar, Lucas Ferritto, Nolan Holdridge, Jordan Payne and Jerome Baker for attaining their goals and playing the beautiful game at the next level!

Our 2009/10 season will also welcome two new teams to the SIGMA FC family with the 1996 and 1997 age coming on board and leading to a total of 6 teams in the organization. SIGMA now enters it's sixth year as an organization, fourth year in providing development training in the GTA and only it's second year with SIGMA FC squads. If the first year is evidence as to what can be accomplished the future will be very bright for SIGMA and it's Players!
